Position Description
We are looking for adaptable, driven individuals who desire to be part of a dynamic team with company values centered around teamwork, ownership, and professionalism.
General Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting with, and supporting, the development and implementation of sustainable preconstruction processes and practices designed to produce accurate and timely proposals, project specifications, risk factors, drawings and contract documents; assisting in preparing information and data for various meetings and presentations to customers, referral networks, legal representatives, etc.; supporting the maintenance of accurate and current records and databases relating to the preconstruction function; communicating and collaborating with members of management and staff within the Group and throughout the company; adhering to all Group and company core values, safety, operations and regulatory compliance policies, practices and procedures.
Essential Duties:
  • Assists with, and supports, the development and implementation of sustainable preconstruction processes and practices by performing a wide variety of duties
  • Documents accurate minutes and allows for the retention of documents relating to preconstruction meetings, including meetings with owners, subcontractors, engineers, architects and other related parties.
  • May be asked to research and evaluate potential risk factors on projects, e.g., contract bonding authorizations, contract and insurance reviews, etc. and reports to Group executive management, as necessary.
  • Assists in the coordination and documentation of project budget pricing during the design phase, the coordination of bidding and selection of subcontractors and assistance in coordinating team assignments with project managers during the preconstruction phase.
  • Supports the monitoring of design progress for compliance with defined cost, schedule and quality criteria.
  • Assists in verifying estimates, including general conditions, for accuracy, completeness and adherence to project requirements.
  • Assists in the preparation for meetings and presentations to customers, referral networks, legal representatives, etc.; may participate in these sessions, as requested.
  • Supports the fulfillment of all requirements of the preconstruction discipline relating to maintaining accurate, complete and organized records, providing a variety of reports to appropriate parties, as requested, and helping to ensure that an accurate and up-to date database is maintained for the preconstruction function.
  • Proactively, professionally and with a team-focused attitude collaborates and communicates with team members within the Group and throughout the company.
  • Complies with established company operating policies and procedures in order to maintain adequate controls and to support the adherence to outside regulatory requirements.
  • Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.
  • Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of the company's commitment to a safe working environment.
  • Responds to inquiries or requests relating to his/her particular area within given time frames and within established policy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proficient reading, writing, grammar, analytical and organizational skills; proficient knowledge and understanding of the preconstruction and estimating functions relating to commercial construction projects; proficient computer skills and the demonstrated ability to use various estimating and related preconstruction software applications; capability to handle multiple preconstruction projects and details simultaneously and a drive to achieve and produce results on time; proficient interpersonal relations, and communications skills; collaborative and generative attitudes and abilities toward working as part of a team; visual and auditory skills; valid driver's license.

Education / Experience:

  • A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field of study preferred; specific training and/or education focused on the purchasing discipline in a construction company.

  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years' experience in preconstruction, estimating or related discipline, with a commercial construction company is preferred
