The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities

The candidate will lead the standardization of manufacturing processes and products as part of a capacity optimization and business continuity/risk mitigation initiative. The candidate will collaborate with leadership to support these activities within the Hayward facility and other locations in the business. The position will require coordination between the development and manufacturing teams across multiple locations. The candidate will assist in developing production processes as needed to support product launches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Others may be assigned):

  • Process Development
  • Captures all aspects existing manufacturing process related to product transfer, including fixturing, tooling, cycle times, router/process steps, materials, programs, and process documentation.
  • Qualifies processes and leads needed changes and improvements during the qualification phase of part launches.
  • Conducts training on applicable topics with the manufacturing teams related to technology transfer.
  • Quality
  • Develops Quality programs, sampling plans for part visual and dimensional requirements. Data collection through spreadsheets, and electronic data storage.
  • Understands Geometric Dimensioning and tolerance, Measurement Systems Analysis, and validates test equipment through statistical techniques (i.e. Gage R&R, Gage Linearity, etc).

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities with a safety mindset and in accordance with all safety rules and regulations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 4 to 10 years related experience and/or training.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing systems.
  • Prior experience in CNC manufacturing.
  • Prior experience in new product development.
  • Prior experience in Statistical Process Control.
  • Prior experience in LEAN manufacturing preferred with emphasis on value stream mapping and single-minute exchange of die.

Language Skills

Conversational Spanish language skills preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and part drawings. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and deliver presentations before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Training in statistics in school and on-the-job strongly preferred.

Computer and Software Skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel; Minitab, 3D Design Suite (CAD), CNC & Mastercam preferred.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and engineering drawings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work performed in an office and factory settings. Exposure to the manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment. Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, and odors. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting up to 20 lbs as required.

Additional Notes

Some travel may be required (up to 20%).

Salary range: $90,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year Plus 10 % Bonus
