Provides support for the Associate Dean/Director for all programmatic needs for the
Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) Degree Program. Coordinates meetings
of the MSMS Curriculum Operations Committee and MSMS Learning Communities.
Assists with recruitment activities for the MSMS degree at undergraduate institutions,
recruitment fairs and conferences with the Associate Dean/Director, the Graduate
Education in Biomedical Sciences (GEBS) staff and the Admissions staff. Maintains an
effective relationship with premedical undergraduate students, undergraduate STEM
faculty, and staff within health professions offices in Georgia colleges and universities,
particularly those within the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC). With the
Associate Dean/Director, the candidate will also provide programmatic support for the
Academically Prepared for EXcellence (APEX) Summer Program, the MSM Alumni
Learning Community (ALC) [assisting MSM alumni working with our office with
outreach to premedical undergraduate students], as well as support for MSM alumni’s
undergraduate children with premedical interests through the MSM Legacy Program.
POSITIONACCOUNTABILITIESANDESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day administration of the MSMS Degree
Program, including the engagement of students, course directors and GEBS staff.
Manages effectively undergraduate campus recruitment (outreach) scheduling,
including annual events such as the MSMS service project First Look, the Pre-
Medical Faculty Summit, undergraduate premed faculty workshops, and any
others as needed.
Working with the Associate Dean/Director, the Office for Marketing and
Communications and the Office for Admissions, assists with maintaining and
updating websites and applications/links for the MSMS degree program,
Academically Prepared for EXcellence (APEX) summer premedical program, First
Look, First Look: Health T.E.A.M, the Alumni Learning Community, the MSM
Legacy Program and the Pre-Medical Faculty Summit.
Working with the Associate Dean/Director and the Director of Administration and
Finance, assists in the development and management of the annual budget for
the MSMS degree program and other programming within the Office;
prepares budgetary documents/reports.
Works with the Associate Dean/Director and the Office for Strategic Planning and
Effectiveness to insure strategic planning updates for the MSMS degree.
With the administrative assistant, maintains the MSMS degree course and
Learning Community schedules; may assist with some MSMS Learning
Community activities.
Serves as the Secretary for the MSMS Curriculum Operations Committee (COC).
Assists the Associate Dean/Director and the Office of Institutional Advancement
with identifying and writing grants/proposals to support the MSMS program and
other outreach programs under this area.
Working with the Associate Dean/Director and the Office for Institutional
Effectiveness, assists in data gathering for the MSMS degree students and other
program participants to ensure the monitoring of program effectiveness and
student successes.
Effectively communicates with MSM faculty, as well as undergraduate affiliate
faculty and the Offices of Health Professions officers at undergraduate
institutions.
Works with the Associate Dean/Director on the organization of orientation
activities for the MSMS program.
Attends all GEBS meetings with other GEBS program managers as directed.
With the Administrative Assistant, helps maintain consistent communication
with MSM ALC alums, scheduling regular meetings, planning engagement
activities and intermittent travel to Georgia ALC sites in Albany, Columbus and
Macon; maintains an accurate ALC directory, working with the Office of Alumni
Constituent Engagement.
Works with the Associate Dean/Director and Administrative Assistant in
organizing undergraduate student campus visits within the Legacy Program and
MSM campus visits by other undergraduate institutions as assigned.
Works with the Associate Dean/Director and MSMS and MD students in the
development and implementation of First Look and First Look: Health T.E.A.M.
Works with the Associate Dean/Director and Office of GEBS in updating and
maintaining MSMS degree program information and student academic policy
information for the MSM student handbook and academic catalog.
Works with the Associate Dean/Director to compose publications on program
effectiveness, write abstracts and present at local and national conferences.
Maintains MSM compliance per institutional requirements for self and students.
