    BENEFITS: Full-Time
    WORK PERIOD: 10 Months, Monday through Friday, Approximately 8:00am to 5:00 pm. Specific start/end times will depend upon route

    Job Objective: Performs semi-skilled to skilled level duties under limited supervision to safely transport students. An incumbent in this position will follow standardized operating policies and procedures. Works in classrooms and other areas of the District as directed.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    Education:High School diploma or equivalent
    Credentials:Valid Oklahoma "B" C.D.L. with passenger and school bus endorsements and bus driver certificate.
    Meet and maintain State of Oklahoma School Bus Certificate and C.D.L. regulations and
    requirements.
    Special Knowledge, Skill or Ability
    • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures
    • Must have mental requirement to understand and follow instructions and avoid safety problems
    • Reads and interprets routine written or printed materials
    • Satisfactory personal conduct and integrity
    • Ability to work well with others
    • Reliable, dependable, and punctual attendance
    Reports to:Transportation Supervisor
    Contact with Others: An incumbent in this position has regular contact with other children, teachers/staff/sponsors, and parents/guardians of bus riders. Job requires interpreting and translating facts and information, explaining and advising passengers of the rules and potential outcomes. If a passenger becomes excessively rude or uncontrollable, the incumbent must take control of the situation or telephone the office.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    1) Strengthens relationships by developing students and clients and staff, partnering with businesses and schools and collaborating with community leaders through participating in school or community activities.
    2) Focuses on being a leader within the organization through personal accountability, active problem solving and positive forward thinking.
    3) Focuses on continual improvement to assure quality products and excellent services to our customers and stakeholders.
    4) Maintain regular schedule of bus/van routes as assigned.
    5) Adheres to safety rules
    6) Conduct daily inspection of vehicle before and after route and reports any issues to the Supervisor.
    7) Assist with minor vehicle maintenance or repair.
    8) Understands and complies with Oklahoma Department of Education and Moore Norman Technology Center Transportation Policies and Regulations.
    9) Provides a safe environment for students on the bus through good student control and discipline.
    10) Sweeps and cleans the bus on a daily basis or more often if needed.
    11) Obeys all traffic laws.
    12) Promptly reports any unsafe road conditions to the Transportation Supervisor.
    13) Completes his/her share of curricular and extra-curricular trips as assigned by the Supervisor.
    14) Follows all restrictions and limitations on the use of school busses as set forth by the Board, the Superintendent and/or the Supervisor.
    15) Assists in the classrooms or other areas of the District as directed
    16) Performs other duties as assigned.

    Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions

    • Job requires employee to use both feet for repetitive movements as in operating foot controls
    • Use of both hands for such repetitive actions requiring simple to firm grasping.
    • Possess manual dexterity sufficient to operate bus safely
    • Possess visual requirement enough to pass driving test, read signs, road hazards and be able to operate bus safely in adverse conditions
    • Possess hearing requirement enough to hear riders, receive communications on radio and hear outside noises: sirens, horns, brakes, etc. that are necessary to operate bus safely.
    • Possess speaking requirement enough to give instructions/commands to riders, speak to parents, and other staff.
    • Mobility enough to get on and off and around bus, to clean and provide routine inspection.
    • Employee must have mental requirement to operate bus, follow safety rules, make sound
    • Occasional bending/stooping; squatting/crouching; occasional to frequent crawling/kneeling
    • In a normal 8-hour work day, the employee must sit 2-3 hours per day; stand 3 hours per day; and walk 2 hours per day
    • Frequent to continuous reaching above shoulder, continuous pushing/pulling
    • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
    • This is not an exhaustive list and reasonable accommodations will be made as needed
    Environment/ Working Conditions:Office, lab, bus, outside, and workshop setting
    Equipment Knowledge
    § Uses tools or equipment in a manner requiring competence and must meet certain performance standards which normally would be gained by on the job exposure or training
    § General knowledge of DOT rules and regulations

    Experience: Six months related work experience
