Montgomery County Public schools VA is Hiring a Grounds Maintenance Near Montgomery, VA

Montgomery County Public Schools is now accepting applications for a General Maintenance - Grounds position that is available in the division.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grounds personnel are required to perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, facilities and equipment of all MCPS property within the county to maintain a condition of operating excellence. Principal duties include but are not limited to snow removal, mowing, operating weed eaters, mulching, hand weeding and trimming of shrubs and trees along with removal of debris from grounds and structures. They also need the ability to work independently or as part of a team to maintain grounds and as necessary aid other personnel in the maintenance and repair, both interior and exterior, in carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry and HVAC equipment as and when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License, obtaining a class “A” Commercial Driver’s License within 6 months of hire
  • Experience with mowing equipment including zero turn mowers, weed eaters, and farm type tractors
  • Obtain a Fertilizer and Commercial Herbicides/ Pesticides Applicators License within 4 months of hire
  • Possess a working knowledge of mechanical tools needed to perform daily service of grounds equipment
  • Physical strength and endurance to perform repetitive manual tasks that include lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and punctual

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Virginia Class “A” Operators License
  • Commercial Herbicides/Pesticides Applicators License
  • Experience with tractors having 12 foot or larger grooming mowing attachments

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28,058.41 - $53,432.23 per year
