ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Montgomery County Council is in search of a highly organized individual to serve as the Legislative Service Coordinator (LSC) to perform advanced administrative support to a team of legislative attorneys and/or analysts supporting the work of the County Council.

The Legislative Services Coordinator (LSC) responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • assisting attorneys and analysts to prepare and process records, including legislative bills, Council and Committee session staff reports, permanent records, resolutions, correspondence;
  • responding to inquiries from constituents, resident groups, County government officials, and business organizations relating to legislative activity, legislative processes, and County Government programs and services;
  • assuring quality, completeness, and timeliness of correspondence and staff reports;
  • maintaining working files and handling requests for information; and
  • using computer and other office equipment to develop, utilize, and maintain databases and prepare reports and correspondence.

This position requires the ability to attend evening meetings or perform work outside of the office.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $54,027 to $69,468.

Montgomery County Ethics Law: Except as provided by law or regulation, the County's "Public Employees" (which does not include employees of the Sheriff's office) are subject to the County's ethics law including the requirements to obtain advanced approval of any outside employment and the prohibitions on certain outside employment. Minimum Qualifications


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

We are seeking a candidate with four (4) or more years of administrative/office support experience. The candidate will also possess a High School Diploma or equivalent recognized in the State of Maryland. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be substituted for either the education and/or experience.


Preferred Criteria


PREFERRED CRITERIA:

There are no preferred criteria for this position. The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent and relevancy of training, and experience in the following areas:

  • Providing office and administrative support.
  • Using a document management system.
  • Proofreading and editing; using Microsoft Office.
