Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. **A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classificationexists is to provide technical support in a specialized area such as reference,cataloging, children/youth services, circulation, and computer education.� Primary work responsibilities may includeserving patrons and the public; assisting in the management of the facility;supervising or assisting in the supervision of employees; performingcirculation duties; performing collection management activities; performing avariety of library-related duties; and serving as experts in specialized,library-specific areas.� The Librarian IIclassification differs from the Librarian I classification in that Librarian IIsincumbents function as technical experts in at least one specialized area.� The Librarian II classification differs fromthe Librarian III classification in that Librarian III incumbents areresponsible for the management of a branch or a system-wide department.� The Librarian II classification is typicallysupervised by a Librarian III or IV.�

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education,English, Computer Science, or closely related degree and two (2) years of professional-levellibrary experience.� A Master’s degree froman accredited program in librarianship or school library media may substitutefor one (1) year of the required library experience.NOTE:� Qualifying education, training, andexperience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities toperform the job will be considered.

Kind of Examination
