The Facilities Manager oversees the security, maintenance, and services of work facilities, ensuring they meet organizational needs. This role entails managing various systems including HVAC, fire alarm, internet infrastructure, FOB door systems, safety, security, electrical, and plumbing. A comprehensive understanding of building and fire codes for educational occupancies is essential to ensure compliance and safety.

This position requires a proactive individual with diverse skills, including expertise in building and fire codes for educational occupancies, to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.

Hours vary depending on the building and facility's needs. This is a full-time salaried position.

Essential Functions:

• Respond promptly to work orders for facility maintenance and repairs.
• Provide handy services and repairs to facilities and grounds, including carpentry, basic wood working, along with basic electrical, plumbing, and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain accurate inventory of machinery and buildings, including quarterly updates on HVAC systems.
• Coordinate and oversee major repairs and projects outsourced to external contractors.
• Manage large building projects and grounds issues efficiently.
• Experience with comparing vendor and contractor quotes, along with ability to manage project budgets and timelines.
• Coordinate and oversee landscaping services both onsite and outsourced to landscape company.
• Ensure the maintenance of safety features within the building and grounds, adhering to building and fire codes for educational occupancies.
• Ability to oversee the Assistant Facilities Manager position, including the ability to delegate maintenance work and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
• Stay informed and compliant with current safety regulations, Fire Marshall codes and TDOE rules.
• Assist with tracking facilities budget

Other Functions:

• Communicate effectively with the Head of School, Business Manager, front office staff and all other staff regarding facility matters.
• Ability to clearly present best solutions to Head of School and Finance Manager, along with all pertinent information: costs, best outcomes, potential problems.
• Offer advice and recommendations regarding weather closures and campus safety protocols.

Educational Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

• 5-10 years of experience in handy services and facilities management

Specific Skills:

• Fluency in the English language.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated sense of confidentiality and ethical conduct.
• Comprehensive understanding of building and fire codes for educational occupancies.
• Curiosity: being able to learn about new aspects of the job both technical issues and different directions the position could go in.
• Teamwork: the ability to collaborate with teachers, students, and parents on possible projects.
