- Directly supervises maintenance activities, including scheduling, parts procurement, equipment surveys, expenditure approvals, performance reviews, company policy enforcement, a strong focus on climate control equipment, safety and accident prevention, preventive/predictive maintenance program and daily corrective maintenance.
- Confers with Maintenance Manager on project planning and corrective maintenance priorities.
- Maintains inventory and work order systems and equipment history.
- Assists in the daily maintenance activities as needed.
- Generates departmental reports such as down time, equipment expenditures, employee productivity; assist with budget planning.
- Ensures the Maintenance shop, welding shop, and rolling stock area are maintained in a clean and organized condition.
- Enforces and comply with all GMP/HACCP and Safety rules and regulations. Attend and/or conduct Safety meetings as required.
- Maintains on-going communication with management team, executive team and vendors.
- Responds to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure etc.) and customer concerns.
- Develops specifications and assists in solicitation and administration of maintenance/repair service contracts.
- Coordinates with Maintenance/Engineering Manager on training and development of maintenance team personnel.
- Coordinates with Maintenance/Engineering Manager on maintenance team personnel needs.
- Observes and practices safety and housekeeping procedures at all times.
- Maintenance department staff, including but not limited to: Lead personnel, maintenance technicians, maintenance specialists, and mechanics.
- In addition to managing current direct reports; this position may manage employees of the department and be responsible for the performance management within that department.
- Plans the work schedules, assigns duties, tracks absenteeism and reviews work to ensure quality standards.
- Strong Electrical and Mechanical trouble shooting skills.
- Background in PLC Programming and troubleshooting control systems.
- Must be able to work with all departments to achieve results.
- Responsible for assisting with project management of special projects and capital expansions.
- Budgetary responsibilities for maintenance and utilities.
- Completion of 2 years of college or trade/technical school specializing in the industrial, mechanical or electrical field of study, or
- Minimum 7 years’ combined experience as mechanic and foreperson
- Bilingual English/Spanish or English Punjabi is a plus
- Two – three years of experience in mushroom industry, food manufacturing, or a similar fast-paced production environment.
- Facilities Management certification.
