The Division of Hematology is seeking general Internists/Family Medicine physicians to take care of their population of sickle cell patients. Our Sickle Cell population has grown enormously in the 6 years since inception. Our patients need physicians who can care for them wholistically, who can worry about their cholesterol and their crises, who understand that their renal failure can be from sickle cell anemia and their hypertension. and who will follow them through pregnancy and menopause. We need physicians who are clinically oriented and eager to be involved in academics, teaching and clinical research.
To this end, we are starting a new program that will highlight the role that sickle cell anemia plays for our patients while still ensuring that patients' associated morbidities, psychosocial environment and general medical care are cared for optimally. The candidate should have interest and experience in working with a population that has a number of economic, health and educational disparities.
