Montecito Bank & Trust is seeking a full-time Cloud Engineer (Azure) to join the Technology Department. Cloud Engineer will deliver a World Class Experience while being responsible for the performance, security, and scalability of the Bank’s Azure cloud infrastructure and related cloud-based technologies. As an integral part of the Software Engineering team and working closely with the Network and Data Engineering teams, this position will leverage Azure and other cloud services to provide a security-first approach designing, building, and implementing infrastructure that connects MB&T-related workers, APIs, websites, intranet sites and other web and digital services. Other responsibilities include researching and implementing new technologies in coordination with the Bank’s online and mobile strategies and studying and implementing security best practices. The preferred candidate needs to have demonstrated experience in the development of scalable and secure DevOps pipelines and proficiency in other Microsoft cloud-based tools such as SharePoint for content management and Power Automate for workflow automation. This position regularly interfaces with colleagues at all levels across the organization and needs to have a client-centric solutions approach in working with associates. The ideal candidate will be inquisitive and innovative – eager to learn and think across technologies and disciplines, always focused on delivering excellent customer service. This is a role for someone who is: passionate about technology, enjoys building things, and embraces complex challenges. Visa sponsorship is not provided. Position requires an on-site presence in Goleta, CA and it is not a fully remote. 

Minimum Requirements, Activities & Responsibilities

Education and Experience: 

  • B.A./B.S. degree preferred, or acceptable equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required
  • Three to five years of experience with primary responsibility for managing Microsoft Azure services including but not limited to DevOps, App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Azure SQL, Azure Active Directory, etc. required
  • Experience with full DevOps cycle spanning across On-Premises and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud Security, Observability, CI/CD, Secure CI/CD, ProdOps, etc. required
  • Experience in implementing security architecture and best practices in cloud infrastructure required
  • Experience with cloud-based content management systems such as SharePoint preferred
  • Experience with cloud-based workflow automation tools such as Power Platform (Power Automate and Power Apps) preferred 
  • Advanced experience with the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, architecture, data design, development, testing, training, and documentation preferred
  • Experience with multi-platform development and integrating web services through APIs preferred
  • Experience with SQL databases and related technologies preferred
  • Experience with Identity and Access Management, SSO/SAML, App Registrations, etc. preferred
  • Experience with cloud-networking infrastructure such as VNET, VPN, WAF, and resource firewalls and traffic/access management preferred
  • Web application and cloud security experience including DDoS mitigation, WAF, XSS, SQL injection; as well as best practices (e.g. OWASP Cloud-Native Application Security Top 10) preferred
  • Previous experience in a regulated environment; financial services preferred

 Essential Functions: 

  • Provide expert advice and lead the design and implementation of the cloud components in hybrid Azure cloud environment
  • Lead the implementation of solutions with a process-driven view, as well as scheduled maintenance and updates to existing structures
  • Set up and configure CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to automate build, test, and deployment processes both on premise and in the cloud
  • Collaborate with Development and Data teams to optimize code deployment workflows
  • Establish and enforce security policies, access controls, and encryption protocols to safeguard sensitive data and systems
  • Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing
  • Implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring high availability and scalability
  • Continuously optimize resource utilization to reduce costs and improve efficiency
  • Provide timely response to incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective action
  • Collaborate with internal support teams and supporting vendors to resolve escalated technical and security issues
  • Create and maintain automated services to support business processes using Power Automate and Power Apps
  • Create and maintain effective SharePoint content management solutions and integrations to support business data management and related workflows
  • Integrate with vendor APIs, SDKs, and external data sources to supplement and enhance core data and business automation
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of configuration, processes, and best practices
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to share knowledge with internal teams
  • Maintain an expert level knowledge of modern cloud standards and security, various development tools, and systems (ASP.NET, database-driven applications)
  • Contribute to discussions and provide expert opinions in meetings and committees as appropriate and stay abreast of, and support, the Bank’s desired technology evolution
  • Create/maintain procedures and other documentation of web-related services, software, databases, and middleware
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Must be an innovator and one who keeps tabs on various industry trends, cloud-native advances and bring to team(s) attention for POC, Implementation
  • Ability to thoughtfully transform user descriptions into practical and optimized solutions using an iterative process that conforms to the Bank’s software development lifecycle policy (SDLC)
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in an interactive and dynamic team environment
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and customer service skills
  • Strong knowledge of standard computer applications including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers and employees
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Ability to lead by example in a team setting and work independently while performing duties
  • Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Must be able to perform this position safely, without endangering the health or safety to himself or herself or others
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance
  • Must be able to work effectively either independently or as part of a team
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities
  • Must be able to demonstrate highest levels of customer service and confidentiality with internal and external customers
