We are currently hiring a Furnace Operator 3rd Shift for a large manufacturing plant that manufactures medical parts and aerospace components, located in New Bedford, MA. This company is a manufacturer of ceramic to metal seals in the Medical and Aerospace markets.

Payrate: 19.50 /Hour (3rd Shift)
Days: Sunday – Thursday (3rd Shift)
Monday – Friday (During Training Only)
Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3rd Shift)
7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (During Training Only)
Responsibilities of the Furnace Operator:

• Furnace Operator controls operation of furnaces to maintain temperature and vacuum according to specifications.
• Furnace Operator is responsible for observing temperature gauges, pressure gauges, and cooling flow gauges to verify operating conditions of small and large furnace units and records data.
• Furnace Operator maintains and operates multiple furnaces alongside each other.
• Furnace Operator examines furnaces for signs of overheating, leakage, and other malfunctions and report irregularities to supervisor.
• Furnace Operator loads furnaces, assuring proper placement of parts.
• Furnace Operator carries out regular and preventative maintenance procedures.
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Furnace Operator writes routine reports and correspondence.
• Furnace Operator assembles parts as required and performs assembly related duties as necessary.
• Furnace Operator modifies existing programs per engineering recommendations.
• Cleanroom dress and protocol is mandatory.
• Furnace Operator visually inspects parts for quality braze / soldering results.
• Furnace Operator places parts on appropriate carriers for transport to next operation.
• Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all company EHS Guidelines and use of proper PPE.

Qualifications for Furnace Operator:

• Must be able to perform all the above responsibilities satisfactorily.
• Previous experience with brazing, welding, soldering, brazing furnaces, and/or metal heat-treating operations is strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Background check/drug screening is required.
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident alien of the United States.
• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Compute rates, ratios, and percentages to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Physical Requirements of Furnace Operator:

• Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Required to talk and hear.
• Required to pass eye test.
• Required to stand, walk, and sit.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
• Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
