Job Description:

Function of Position:

The Digital Content Specialist is the digital voice of Monroe Community College, promoting the College, our community, and our programs, across multiple digital media channels with a focus on social media. The Digital Content Specialist supports the College brand in all communications. The Digital Content Specialist creates and implements a social media strategy that supports the strategic enrollment plan, the marketing and recruitment plans, the strategic plan, and other directives from College leadership. The position requires in-depth knowledge of key social media platforms and awareness of emerging networks.

The position frequently requires work beyond the traditional workday including evenings and weekends.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop a long-term strategy for communicating through targeted social channels.
  • Daily and weekly management of digital marketing campaigns across multiple platforms (YouTube, Facebook/Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, and emerging platforms, etc.), including copy creation, photographic and video creation, campaign implementation and posting, budget management, performance review, and basic optimizations
  • Manage day-to-day campaign activities across multiple accounts, including campaign strategy, audience targeting, platform setup, and campaign performance analysis
  • Oversee editorial and video content integration into social media platforms.
  • Analyze campaigns, establish and monitor metrics, and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising social media, content marketing, SEO, and social advertising campaigns.
  • Ensure all posts are optimized and tracked for performance
  • Collaborate with the marketing and web team to ensure alignment between campaigns and paid media marketing efforts
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a posting calendar that aligns with the College's deadlines to achieve marketing objectives.
  • Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, video, written, and audio/podcast).
  • Work with vendors for photographic and video content.
  • Work in partnership with Community Relations to promote institutional objectives and to assist in crisis communications.
  • Provides guidance to other MCC employees who manage social media accounts for the College.
  • Perform an annual audit of social media channels affiliated officially or unofficially with MCC.
  • In conjunction with divisional and departmental leadership, develop and implement the College's policies, procedures and protocols related to social media
  • Implements best practices to ensure the security of MCC social media channels
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the Manager 1, Web and Digital Communications

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned bachelor's degree in digital media, marketing, communications, journalism, English, or a related field from a regionally-accredited higher education institution
  • Two years' experience in digital media, marketing, communications, journalism or related field
  • Experience planning strategic communications or outreach campaigns
  • Strong social customer service techniques such as empathy, patience, advocacy and conflict resolution
  • Proficiency in a variety of social media platforms, especially Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik Tok and others
  • Proficiency in written, visual and verbal communications
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, Sprout Social or other social media analytics tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in communications
  • Experience in higher education
  • Some experience in visual communication such as video or photography or design
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics

Additional Information:

Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $52,000 to $55,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.
