**About the role:**

As a Buyer/Material Planner, you will manage the negotiation and ordering and supply of direct materials, indirect materials, capital equipment, and services. Your strong background will enable you to recommend and maintain all planning parameters including min/max, safety stock levels, lot size, economic order quantity, lead times and planned delivery time. Other important tasks will include monitoring strong supplier performance towards objectives (delivery, quality, cost, lead time, and capacity).

Responsibility:

* Research and develop adequate sources of supply and services.

* Participate in cross functional supplier selection activities through management of formal RFP, RFQ and RFI processes

* Perform materials planning using both spreadsheets and MRP systems.

* Proactively strategize with business and technical owners to understand the needs of the organization and effectively communicate status of supply to stake holders.

* Review & analyze material shortages and recommend suggestions to prevent production delays.

* Lead the procurement activities in the engineering change order process.

* Be a key member of a team responsible for the implementation, maintenance and utilization of ERP/MRP within purchasing and planning functions

* Continuously seek out cost savings opportunities and lead efforts to realize those savings.

* Understand and follow all import/export requirements.

Experience/Knowledge:

* 3-5 years of experience as a buyer or materials planner

* Expertise with Spreadsheet, PLM & ERP Systems

* Understanding of market dynamics and sound business judgement

* Strong project management, leadership

* Ability to negotiate and sustain internal and external relationships

* Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 sigma/Kaizen preferred

* Utilize a data-based approach to decision-making.

* Attained at least a bachelors degree in a relevant field
