Position Title: IT Business Analyst Data Platform and Reports
Effective Date: 3/1/2024
Reports To: IT Senior Project Manager
Position status: Non-Exempt – Full Time
Primary Function:
The IT Business Analyst for the data and reports team will be a key contributor to the development team as the business advocate working cross-departmentally on data-driven strategies. By assisting the business to identify criteria and insights and then communicating the need to the developers, the analyst plays a vital role in helping collect data-backed insights. The analyst will be involved at different phases of dashboards and reports projects including discovery, solution generation, design/architecture, and the detailing of the generated data output. The analyst will be involved in the recommendation, configuration, evaluation, and deployment of high-quality solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identifying and solving complex business problems.
- Distill business requests, processes, and procedures to appropriate reporting specifications into User Stories in line with policies and methods processes of the IT organization.
- Manage scope and change control and escalate issues to the project coordinator or manager as necessary during the data dashboards and reports development process
- Work with project coordinator to ensure project deadlines, budget and business requirements are met.
- Work with project coordinator and product owner on prioritization of projects and tasks.
- Communicate statuses of User Story Workshops and User Stories to project coordinator.
- Coordinate business resources to develop test scripts and testing to accept development changes.

- Experience in collaborating with the business to gather use cases, and business and functional requirements
- Experience in turning requirements and use cases into fully developed User Stories for the developers

Knowledge Needed-
- High level understanding of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
- At least 2 years of experience with Information Technology Projects
- At least 2 years of experience in Business Analysis in Healthcare or Laboratory IT environment
- Familiarity of DevOps or other agile software management and project management tools
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools such as Microsoft Excel, and Power BI to analyze and present data in a meaningful way
- Experience with business process modeling tools such as Visio and Miro
- Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly
- Experience in the Agile /Scrum development methodology of software development
- Experience contributing to Agile ceremonies, product backlog selection, product demo etc.
- Experience with DevOps
- Coding in C#, Python, SQL
Education and Certification:
Education/Experience Requirements-
- High school or GED is required
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science or relevant degree preferred
- Six years of experience in a laboratory or medical care environment
Certifications-
- Professional certification in Business Analysis such as CCBA or CBAP
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit or stand for up to eight hours per day.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities.
Work Environment:
VANCOUVER OFFICE - Most work will be performed in an office. However, this position may require some traveling and working between locations. Workweeks usually consist of 40 hours.
REMOTE POSITIONS - Most work will be performed away from the office in the employee’s home or in another remote work site. However, this position may require some traveling and working between locations. Workweeks usually consist of 40 hours.
Office Environment-
- Several common areas and meeting rooms for collaboration.
- Large windows which let in natural light during working hours.
- Fully equipped break room and bathrooms.
Lab Environment-
- Noise levels vary based on flow of business.
- Most floors are tile or concrete - individuals may stand for extended periods of time on these surfaces.
Tools and Technology:
- Desktop computer and laptop
- Scanners and printers
Hazards:
- Work is performed in an office environment, full manual dexterity and visual acuity required. However, access to the laboratory may be necessary and therefore employee may be exposed to potential physical harm from hazardous chemicals, infectious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, toxic materials, toxic gases, electrical hazards, dangerous tools, and equipment.
