Mokena School District 159 is Hiring a Music Teacher Near Mokena, IL

Title: TEACHER, Music

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Appropriately licensed/certified by the Illinois State Board of Education.
  • Teachers in grades 6-8 must have Middle School Endorsement in Content Area

Accountable to:

  • Building Administrators

Primary Objective:

  • Instructs students in music activities in educational institution by performing the following duties.

Major Areas of Accountability*:

  • Plans music program to promote development of student’s physical attributes, social skills, and life-long activity skills.
  • Teaches individuals utilizing knowledge of music techniques.
  • Organizes, leads, instructs, music performances.
  • Teaches and demonstrates the use of equipment related to music.
  • Confers with students, parents, and school counselor to resolve student problems.
  • Selects, stores, orders, issues, and inventories equipment, materials, and supplies used in music program.
  • Supervises classroom, students, and volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bending, carrying, climbing, must be able to travel between job sites, lifting, pushing-pulling, reaching, sitting, standing and walking.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
  • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather, meet multiple demands from several people, and interact with the public and other staff.

Working Conditions:

  • Includes extremes of temperature and humidity.
  • Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases.
