Mohawk Valley Health Systems is Hiring an Acute Inpatient Rehab Coordinator - Full Time - Days Near Utica, NY

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of CDI & Coding, the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Coding Coordinator (AIRCC) will independently collaborate with the clinicians and leaders of acute rehab to ensure that all aspects and necessary elements related the particulars of the rehab specialty are accurately and properly documented, coded, and reported. AIRCC will ensure coding is in accordance with official compliance guidelines and any applicable regulation.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure the proper scoring and documentation is recorded in collaboration with the Director of Rehab, Information Technology staff, and IRU end users.
  • Design, validate and audits the IRU documentation work flow within the EMR.
  • Perform coding audits and validates the documentation within IRU to ensure compliance with all regulations, following CDI protocol
  • Accountable to all regulatory guidelines (Assessments done on initial day, daily concurrent coding of all admitted patients, etc.)
  • Audits and validates Policies & Procedures related to the IRU Coding
  • Work in collaboratively with the Revenue Integrity team to resolve issues specific to IRU Accounts (status, overlapping accounts, charge issues, combined/uncombined accounts)
  • Represent Director of CDI/Coding at meetings related to IRU.
  • Assign etiologic diagnoses, impairment group categories, and co-morbid condition codes for the purpose of calculating the IRF-PAI score. Also assigns ICD 10 codes, and groups IRF-PAI and ICD 10 codes to calculate a CMG.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • AS in Heath Information Technology, other related degree or experience.
  • 3 years of acute care inpatient coding
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EMRs, encoders, and groupers
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written to all levels of the organization

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with IRF-PAI, CMG, etiologic diagnoses, impairment group categories (Acute Inpatient Rehab Coding).

Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • RHIT credentialed
