Moffatt & Nichol is searching for a Junior Level Electrical Engineer to join our Oakland or Walnut Creek office(s). The successful new hire will assist in the planning, design, and plan production for general electrical engineering drawings on a wide variety of projects which may include lighting, power, and grounding plans, one-line diagrams, panel and cable schedules, controls and communications and equipment specifications and reports.

Duties & responsibilities:

• Assist in completing electrical designs to support firm-wide, multi-discipline projects by working with Project Managers (any discipline) and electrical teammates
• Assist project managers by providing design, calculations, design drawings, equipment specifications and reports for the following but not limited to:
  • Medium and low voltage power distribution systems
  • Lighting systems
  • Lightning protection systems
  • Grounding systems
  • Communications systems
  • Electrical equipment design (including switchboards and switchgear)
  • Electrical room, kiosk and control panel design
  • Selective power system coordination and arc flash studies
  • Electrical power load and voltage drop studies
  • Above ground and underground cabling, fiber, conduit, or cable tray
• Assist with evaluation of project scopes
• Knowledge of power system analysis software for coordination and arc flash studies would be an asset
• Assist in company wide Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Master’s Degree Preferred
• 0 to 4 years of related experience including:
  • Medium/low voltage power distribution systems
  • Grounding systems
  • Lighting systems
  • Communications systems 
  • Electrical equipment design (including switchboards and switchgear)
  • Electrical power load and voltage drop studies
  • Above ground and underground cabling, fiber, conduit, or cable tray
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit is preferred 
• Knowledge of power system analysis software such as ETAP or EasyPower and AGI32 for coordination and arc flash studies plus lighting design would be an asset

Base Salary Range

$74,000 to $105,000 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in California.

Physical demands:

Ability to use standard office equipment. Sits for a prolonged period of time. Ability to make occasional site visits to project locations.
