Job Title: Cost Estimator- (All Plants)

Reports to: Manager of Cost Estimating

FLSA Status: EXEMPT

Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00AM to 5:00PM) extended hours may be required to support business needs


Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, capital investment and labor expenses
  • Actively manage various RFQ’s (request for quotes) and associated technical data.
  • Complete customer RFQ forms and submit via customer specific web portals
  • Ensure that each bid meets customer expectations and established estimate meets customer specifications.
  • Perform evaluation of bids and provide the pricing in a timely manner.
  • Conceptualize layouts for the project and review all estimates before they are submitted.
  • Monitor the results of the RFQ’s and update them accordingly.
  • Confer with manufacturing engineers, technicians, subcontractors, contractors, vendors, etc., on adjustments or changes that need to be made in the cost estimates and assist in determining the feasibility of the project.
  • Research data related to subcontracts and purchase orders, etc., compile the relevant reports, and develop guidelines for future estimates.
  • Obtain quotations from subcontractors and vendors; review, analyze, and make recommendations for selection.
  • Ability to read and interpret prints as well as GD&T.
  • Effectively interact with employees across all levels of the organization (Sales, Engineering, Program Management, Production, Corporate Management, etc.).
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Must demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.


Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge
:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, related technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years of Cost Engineering/Cost Estimating experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong technology skills (CAD, CAM, Excel, Microsoft Office, Plex etc.) required
  • Experience with metal stampings, roll forming and fabrication is preferred.
  • Ability to lead and influence others to achieve targets in a diverse work environment.


Physical environment/working conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to go between and office and manufacturing environment daily. All applicable PPE is required while walking the manufacturing floor.

Must be able to work as part of a team. Must maintain confidentiality when working on assignments.
