Fabricator Job Description

Summary

Responsible for creating finished furniture products using tools, machines, and their own hands.

Primary responsibilities

  • Listen to directions from supervisors.
  • Fabricate furniture, architectural treatments, and accessories from metal and wood components.
  • Determine if all parts and materials are present.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Assemble tools and materials.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies.
  • Interpret measurements.
  • Verify specifications.
  • Assemble components.
  • Ensure all parts are fitted and attached properly.
  • Alter dimensions to fit specifications.
  • Resolve production issues.
  • Complete preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs as needed.
  • Ensure working environment is clean and safe.
  • Report errors in product line.
  • Check stock to ensure inventory is replenished.
  • Place orders for supplies.
  • Participate in product development.
  • Build prototypes and test products.
  • Qualifications:
  • Experienced custom furniture makers & metal fabrication experts.
  • Advanced finishing skills including metal patinas, wood finishes (lacquers, tints, wax, spray finishing, brush, and other high-end techniques) as applicable.
  • Knowledge of routine fabrication & finishing tooling & machinery.
  • Computer experience including: working from sketches and blueprints, email, and CAD experience a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable vehicle transportation.
  • Detail orientated with the ability to work independently.
  • Good hours – light travel – in house or local work.

  • A great opportunity for responsible, mature artistic types with metal/wood shop experience. Must be able to work well with current team. We are a non union shop. We generally, as a rule, do not build cabinets, but on occasion, we do.
  • This is a full time position. Pay based upon experience. Paid vacation is part of our benefits package, as well as work schedule flexibility.
