Quality Control Representative

Under the direction of the QC Manager, the Quality Control Representative is responsible for concrete testing in compliance with all applicable job specific standards and other associated tasks. They are involved in all phases of the production lifecycle from evaluating raw materials to inspecting finished products to verify they meet target specifications. Relationships with customers and local laboratories will be essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience or equivalent higher education degree in aggregate, asphalt, concrete or construction industry (preferred) or relevant quality control position.
  • Completion of or willing to get ACI Field Grade I Certification
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment screening.
  • Bilingual is a plus.

Necessary Qualities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute and review product tests for the required specifications.
  • Keep a record of compressive test results and evaluate statistically.
  • Conduct training of designated plant operators and confirm that all yard tests are being run and reported.
  • Support and ensure driver training on concrete basics.
  • Review job specifications and determine mixes to be submitted.
  • Upload new mixes or mix changes to the appropriate yards.
  • Investigate customer quality complaints and report findings to the QC Manager.
  • Visit jobs and get customer input regarding finishing, setting, and other quality issues.
  • Conduct tests on jobs to be aware of changes that occur in transit and educate the contractor.
  • Make suggestions regarding modifying mixes to optimize quality and maximize profit.
  • Attending various industry meetings to continue increasing product knowledge.
  • Run aggregate gradations when there is a source change, or at minimum, weekly.
  • Calibrate all testing equipment as required by TXDOT or as needed. Keep appropriate records.
  • Assist with submissions to TXDOT: QC Plan, Plant Certification, and Truck Certification.
  • Stay familiar with all relevant ACI and ASTM Standards.
  • Inform the Quality Control Manager of any serious issue.
  • Traveling between production plants and jobsites several times daily.
  • Other related duties as required.

Work Environment

  • Requires being exposed to extremes of hot, cold, and wet weather.
  • Walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting 50lbs.
  • Exposure to fumes, gases, and dust on a regular basis.
  • Working early dark mornings will often be required.
  • Working near live traffic and moving mechanical parts, conveyors, and pumps.
  • Long hours, often more than 5 days a week.

Salary may deviate from range mentioned based on education and experience.

Pay: $962.00 - $1,347.00 per week
