Equipment Technician

The Mid-States Organized Crime Information Center (MOCIC) has an immediate opening for a full-time Equipment Technician at its Springfield, MO, location. MOCIC offers an excellent benefit package, including medical, dental, a 401(k)-retirement plan, and life and disability insurance.This is a non-exempt position. MOCIC is an organization composed of member law enforcement and criminal justice agencies in the Midwestern United States working together to combat multi-jurisdictional criminal activities. As one of the RISS Centers, MOCIC assists local, state, federal, and tribal criminal justice agencies by providing adaptive solutions and services that facilitate information sharing, support criminal investigations, and promote officer safety.

We are seeking a highly motivated, technical, mechanical, and hands-on person to serve as an integral part of MOCIC’s operations team.

Duties:The primary duties of this position include:

  • Fulfilling member agency requests for assistance in the operation, use and loan of surveillance and other types of investigative equipment. Including shipping/receiving of equipment.
  • Services, repairs, and performs routine maintenance on technical surveillance equipment.
  • Must understand computer networking and have the ability to assemble and trouble-shoot electronic equipment. Must be able to solder and build basic electronic circuits.
  • Conduct training and provide technical support to member agency law enforcement personnel on the usage of specialized equipment.
  • Assist in procuring and maintaining the inventory of equipment using an automated software system.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Handle confidential, law enforcement sensitive material.
  • Prepare related written material for use by MOCIC/RISS members including training material, success stories, and results reporting for investigative equipment loans.
  • Maintain current knowledge pertaining to law enforcement and criminal justice field as it applies to physical and electronic surveillance.
  • Any other duties or projects as assigned to assist MOCIC to meet its goals and objectives.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited educational institution, technical/vocational or trade school in related field. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the desired level of knowledge, ability, and skill to perform maintenance and repair of electronic and technical equipment providing at least six years of experience may be considered. General knowledge of specialized law enforcement communication and surveillance equipment gained through law enforcement experience desirable. High level of computer proficiency preferred. A personable and professional demeanor is required. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated skill in electronic communication (e-mail, video chat, webinars, collaboration software, etc.) is helpful. Ability to push, pull, grasp and/or lift or carry up to 75 lbs.

 Location/Hours: Located in Springfield, MO and office hours are normally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Flex schedule is considered after completion of probationary period. Salary: The salary for this position starts at $49,271.
