MNW LL is Hiring a Financial Controller Near Pacoima, CA

Real Estate and Manufacturing company is seeking a Controller to lead accounting department and undertake financial management, reporting and budget preparation. This position will report directly to the CEO and is expected to be confident who can manage company’s financial performance and direct our accounting department.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

· Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions including daily management of accounting department, accounts payable, cash management, internal audit, and payroll and benefits.

· Reviews payroll and benefit processing to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.

· Evaluate, maintain and document accounting and internal control systems to mitigate risk throughout the company operations.

· Seek process improvements to drive expense savings and improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial close.

· Review and analyze GL account reconciliations to completion.

· Oversee monthly and year-end financial close process and coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements.

· Maintain the financial report writing package and develop adhoc reports as needed.

· Construct relevant and timely reports/dashboards on financial data analytics and key financial metrics.

· Review processes throughout the company in an effort to automate and improve timeliness, accuracy and effectiveness of processes.

· Assist Ownership in evaluation of risk throughout the company and incorporate risk mitigation policy and procedures in the internal audit function.

· Assist in developing an effective plan to lessen the impact of the risk. Categorize risk by sources of risk, the area of the company affected, or other useful categories such as root causes.

· Monitors monthly and year-to-date medical claims costs, including tracking of large claims against stop loss limits.

· Review of corporate income tax returns prepared by outside accounting firm to confirm accuracy for shareholders.

· Periodic review of tax and other distributions to shareholders.

· Prepares Corporate Support Department annual budgets, and monitor expense controls in accordance with established budget.

· Assists with consolidation, review, and analysis of company-wide and branch budgets and collaborates with branch managers to drive budgeting initiatives.

· Manages the Company credit card program, including authorization and issuance of credit cards, ensuring business purpose and coding of expenses are timely and accurate.

· Lead the coordination and support of the annual financial statement audit.

· Administers vendor file maintenance to ensure timely receipt of EIN or SSN numbers, timely issuance of tax forms (to include 1099’s) at year end, and proper identification of vendors and/or transactions subject to use tax.

· Coordinates 401(K) audit and annual preparation and filing of Form 5500 with federal Department of Labor.

· Provides all data and coordinate annual workers compensation audit.

· Manages database of all company vehicles coordinates with company insurance carrier(s) for additions, removals, annual premiums, and policy renewals; and maintain current registration on owned vehicles.

· Maintains and administers filing and record retention policies and procedures to insure adequate documentation in support of tax, insurance, workers compensation, or other regulatory audits.

· Coordinates external audits for business use, personal and business property, or other taxing agencies.

· Prepares timely semi-annual performance appraisals for direct reports, ensuring staff development, regular assessment and goal setting.

· Actively participates in key projects and initiatives, such as financial and operational software implementations and enhancements, key strategic financial analyses, and requests of the CFO and other members of senior management.

· Serves as key liaison with corporate banking institution(s) for cash management, charge card account setup and maintenance, and issue resolution.

· Maintains current knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations related to the stated duties.

· Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner.

· Perform other duties as required.

· Strong financial analysis knowledge, with an ability to problem solve, work independently with a minimal degree of supervision, and identify optimal solutions from multiple alternatives.

· Thorough knowledge of GAAP and producing financial statements in accordance to GAAP.

REQUIREMENTS

· Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field

· At least four years of experience as Controller.

· Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations preferred.

· Proficient in financial software Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel (AppFolio is a plus)

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
