Department: Physical Rehab Services - Hospital Shift: Primarily Days (United States of America) Employee Type: Regular - Per Diem Per Diem Type (if applicable): Non-RN Per Diem 1 Minimum Pay Range: $0.00 - $0.00 Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the Director of Rehabilitation and the Rehabilitation Services Supervisor, the Rehabilitation Aide performs designated routine tasks related to the operation of Rehabilitation Services; assists with patient-related activities, which are pre-determined for each patient and assigned by the Physical/Occupational Therapist; and maintains equipment, supply inventory, department cleanliness, transportation of patients when needed and clerical tasks as assigned. Provides care based on the age-related needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient with consideration of their developmental/psychosocial needs, environmental safety, educational needs, communication style and level of understanding. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education/Licensure/Certification: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. High school graduate or equivalent required. One year of college coursework toward a rehabilitation degree preferred. Course work in medically related classes desirable. Previous rehabilitation experience preferred. Knowledge: Understanding of anatomy, surgical procedures and medical terminology. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on/in inpatient/outpatient setting. Knowledgeable of the principles of growth and development. Skills: Ability to recognize distress signs during treatment. Ability to read, write and speak in the English language. Ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status. Able to identify each patient’s age specific requirements and special needs. Adept in the use of therapeutic modalities and equipment. Adept in the use of isolation techniques and sterile procedures. Demonstrated ability to update patient records and assist with scheduling. Must possess good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Must possess basic Word and Excel skills.
