Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Supervise staff accountant, assign and manage work load, and review work product
• Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
• Ensures subordinates are following company policies and procedures.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepares monthly financial statements and other reports for financial reporting package.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
• Completes monthly account reconciliations.
• Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
• Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
• Prepares annual budget.
• Calculates and verifies monthly accruals.
• Prepares monthly sales metrics.
• Analyzes financial data to identify trends and insights to make recommendations for improving financial performance.
• Stays up-to-date on accounting practices, software and technology.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Adept computer skills and proficiency using QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Excellent organization skills for maintaining clear, accurate, and meticulous financial records for a company.
• Multitasking in order to successfully handle multiple accounts, invoices, and payments at various stages of execution.
• Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and solve problems.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
• Three to five years of accounting experience required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
