­ Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. is looking for a Technical Field Advisor III. This role can work remotely with the required up to 70% travel. Project locations include USA, Mexico, Canada, Latin America and Caribbean. There is a home trip available every 4th weekend. The Company will pay for two 8-hour travel days and pay for round trip. SummaryProvide field advisory services/support to the client for the safe installation and erection of mechanical scope of the major and minor equipment installation associated with large frame industrial gas turbine, steam turbine and generator. Including but not limited to the foundation erection, setting of base plates, setting of the major centerline equipment and auxiliary skid mounted equipment, air intake filter house, exhaust sections and all associated high energy piping.
Technically supports mechanical completion of major and minor equipment in preparation of startup and commissioning of the supplied equipment including oil flushing and mechanical activities and inspections required for a successful first fire and load operation. Communicates to the EPC personnel and others in the area safety hazards associated with the initial energization of equipment.
This position is for Advisory Services only. In other words, no “hands-on work” or direct operation of the equipment, or hand tool use is required or expected while performing advisory services to the client.
Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide field support to project management and engineering as required to ensure successful project execution.
  • Responsible for understanding and conveying safe installation procedures and practices for Mitsubishi Power mechanical scope of supply.
  • Documenting and reporting the status and completion of EPC and Mitsubishi Power installation requirements via sign off and completion of installation required check sheets. To be done in a timely manner and coordinated with Site lead / Manager.
  • Responsible for providing technical advice on material receipt, pre-erection work, turbine alignment and planning and coordination.
  • Responsible for ensuring all deliverables are received on site to support the timely erection of equipment. Communicating gaps and needs in proactive manner to minimize project schedule risk.
  • Responsible for procurement of replacement items identified as short falls and/or miscellaneous items.
  • Responsible for evaluating QC procedures, controls, and their administration.
  • Responsible for erection completion.
  • Support readiness checks for pre-commissioning activities.
  • Interpret, approve, and advise on pre-commission activity results for lubrication oil flushing and steam blows.
  • Advice on start-up procedures and function checking for Mitsubishi Power supplied equipment.
  • Support the analysis and sequencing of erection work, reviewing with TFA Lead and EPC/Customer during planning as required.
  • Support in preparation and updates of site project schedules.
  • Assist in evaluation of equipment damaged during transportation, and issuance of insurance documentation.
  • Interpret and clarify any discrepancies in the technical documentation. When required, provide feedback via Site Action Request –or- Project Action Request to Installation and Start-up Engineering to facilitate action by the author of documentation.
  • Ensure correct protocols and methods are followed for recording installation measurements.
  • Ability to work with all skills of crafts, with customers, and coworkers in a professional manner.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

Knowledge, Skills & EducationTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Education and/or Experience: Mechanical Engineering degree (BS/BA/MBA/MA) in a discipline from an accredited college or university; at least eight (8) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification/License:
    • TFA III - Thirty (30) hours of OSHA training/experience, recommended.
    • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Spanish and/or Japanese a plus.
    • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Computer Skills: Knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
    • Additional Knowledge/Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills. Basic mechanical skills.
