The Space Mission Integration Department (N113) of MITRE's Air and Space Forces Center - Space Warfighting Division (N110) is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our Space Warfighting Division team in supporting the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (Space RCO) in New Mexico. The successful candidate will demonstrate critical systems engineering thinking to include expert understanding of systems engineering processes that include requirements development, validation/verification of systems through extensive test and exercise (T&E) best practices, integration and test, model-based systems engineering and fundamental understanding of modern system integration challenges in an agile construct. The candidate should have familiarity with rapid acquisition processes that support the DoD and can support and challenge our sponsors with demonstrating and exercising this and more. The candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to the government, providing critical technical recommendations on multiple system integration topics. The candidate will use their skillset in systems engineering to provide our sponsors the expertise necessary in operationalizing critical space systems. The candidate will also collaborate with multiple sponsors, project leaders, and a team of multi-disciplined engineers and SMEs from across our department and locations. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of related experience; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience. * Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI and SAP. * Technical depth and leadership in systems engineering, preferably in software system integration, command and control, communications/networking, and DoD acquisition programs.
* Works well and is a team player on multi-disciplined system engineering team to provide integration test, training, and exercise strategy and approach in support of space capability deployments.
* Familiarity with end-to-end system lifecycle development, design, testing, integration, and deployment of operational systems.
* Serve as a trusted advisor to our government sponsors.
* Demonstrated experience in system integration, system of systems engineering (SE), agile integration approaches, horizontally scalable architectures, and operational employment of DoD systems/capabilities. * Flexible systems thinker with the ability to deliver results quickly.
* Self-starter with effective time management skills.
* Strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational and communications skills, effective and clear written and oral communication abilities, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills.
* Working and fluent knowledge of enterprise engineering and architecture, system interfaces, command and control systems (both ground and space based), modeling & simulation.
* Knowledge and understanding of acquisition lifecycle and process across Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, civil, and commercial agencies.
* Understanding of space systems and missions across DoD, the Intelligence Community, and civil and commercial agencies. PreferredQualifications: * Prior experience working DoD space system acquisition programs.
* Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to execution of multiple mission sets across a set of work programs, and a demonstrated ability to work across organizations and integrate efforts to achieve more impactful outcomes.
