FINANCIAL ASSISTANT II, Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL)/Supply Chain Management Program (SCM), to provide complex and diverse financial support for CTL and SCM, including reviewing, reconciling, processing, and/or tracking financial transactions. Responsibilities include reconciling accounting statements and monitoring expenses for compliance with sponsor guidelines; reviewing and certifying MIT procurement credit card purchases; reviewing, processing, tracking payments, and reconciling bills, vendor invoices, requisitions, POs, and requests for payment; serving as financial transaction contact for staff/students/faculty/vendors; training less experienced staff; performing export control screenings; implementing-with little supervision-policies or operating practices; investigating and resolving financial transaction issues; researching and gathering information for financial projects; assisting with developing guidelines/procedures and making recommendations for best practices; electronically processing, approving, and tracking travel reports and providing help with Concur; processing journal vouchers, telephone, equipment, and furniture orders; acting as contact for Facilities’ orders and requests; assisting with space changes; file maintenance; and performing other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; three years’ accounting/finance experience, preferably in an academic/research environment; excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and take initiative to implement/improve established financial processes; proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to rapidly learn applications developed in-house; knowledge of Concur; ability to work effectively despite frequent interruptions; and good judgment with confidential matters. Seek a team player who enjoys interacting with and assisting students, faculty, administrators, and visitors with culturally and professionally diverse backgrounds. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance; MIT accounting and finance experience; and relational database skills and experience with SAP, Brio Query, QuickBooks, Salesforce, and/or Cognos.
