Misumi USA is Hiring a Product Engineer - Factory Automation Components Near Schaumburg, IL

ABOUT THE POSITION:The Product Engineer is responsible for developing new suppliers, products, and maintaining product quality control, and ensuring timely delivery for the Misumi USA distribution organization. Priority consideration will be given to internal applicants. We offer a hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two WFH. You will support the business by performing the following responsibilities:

  • Research potential suppliers, materials, and processes to meet specifications.
  • Negotiate purchasing terms and oversee introductory process for new products to ensure quality, cost, and delivery meet business needs.
  • Provide/obtain accurate technical information to and from suppliers in a timely manner. 
  • Promote and educate customers such as engineers, buyers or other professionals on products and services to increase sales both on and off-site.
  • Ensure product development is done according to ISO procedures and meets all quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with procurement, customer service, sales, marketing, and management to ensure all assigned projects are completed in an efficient process and on schedule.
  • Support efforts to gather and analyze market data to set pricing and maintain acceptable profit margins.
  • Help create and maintain the website and product masters.
  • Identify and implement process improvement activities.
  • Help upper management with special assignments (i.e., Product research, customer research, market research, presentation information, inspection etc.).
  • Develop trainings that can be used in the Misumi Master Class series.
  • Work with customers on establishing the required specifications for potential new products, materials, and coatings.
  • Analyze design problems using engineering and mathematical principles.
  • Coordinate major engineering projects to ensure schedules are met.
  • Work on special quotations for customers requiring components outside the catalog specs., producing part drawings to customer requirements.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Robotics, Automation or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • 1 years of experience in an engineer role.
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently and drive results to schedule.
  • Strong multi-tasking and cross-functional skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment design preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of 3D CAD, Excel, Word, SQL and Outlook.
  • Some travel may be required (up to 25%).
