JOB TITLE: Field Technician Coordinator 

LOCATION: Humphreys County Central Office

SALARY: $50,000 – $75,000 

WORK DAYS: 235 Days - 12 Month Employee

REPORT TO: Director of Technology & Fixed Assets

FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Field Technician Coordinator is responsible for the on-going monitoring, maintenance, and administration of networked and standalone computing systems. Systems range from stand-alone PC applications, to minicomputers, to Local Area Networks (LANs) with many users. The Field Technician Coordinator serves as the lead technical support professional for all areas assigned to the technology department. The Technology Coordinator will also provide assistance ranging from installing new equipment, solving operating system problems, and troubleshooting PC-based systems.

The Field Technician Coordinator is primarily responsible for installing and configuring hardware and software, establishing connectivity with the network, installing and connecting devices (projectors, interactive boards, printers, etc), pc repair and maintenance, printer repair and maintenance, and providing technical support to users, and training other personnel to do the same.

As a Field Technician Coordinator, you must be well-versed in computer systems and network functions. The ideal candidate will be able to work diligently and accurately and will possess a great problem-solving ability in order to fix issues and ensure functionality.

The common everyday tasks of performing the job's responsibilities require the following physical demands: climbing ladders, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; periodic work in tight areas, and significant fine finger dexterity.

In addition to the aforementioned, the Field Technician Coordinator will provide leadership and oversight of the overall work of the Technicians. The Field Technician Coordinator will advise the Executive Director on pertinent technology challenges and offer possible solutions. The Field Technician Coordinator will possess the ability to foster teamwork, modeling what is expected out of all technology personnel. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates a work-order tracking system to receive user requests
  • Reviews repair requests, decides the level of service required, and exercises judgment in continuing with the service or forwarding requests to supervisor.
  • Repair devices such as personal computers, and printers.
  • Assembles computer-related equipment according to written instructions and/or diagrams.
  • Installs, replaces and repairs electronic components of computer equipment.
  • Modifies and upgrades units as defined by supervisor such as installing additional memory and upgrading operating systems
  • Monitors performance of equipment and makes necessary adjustments to guarantee maximum performance.
  • Provides leadership that is leveraged by the Executive Director.
  • Models the behaviors and skills in which all technology personnel should exhibit.
  • Is well versed and knowledgeable all the technological needs of the district.
  • Maintains a network of professionals to refer to as needed for district technology support. 
  • Acts as a liaison, on behalf of the district, as needed.
  • Works closely with external partners, after the establishment of services 
  • Perform other related work as required or as assigned.

 JOB EXPECTATIONS:

  • Must be able to operate a variety of computing equipment and tools including but not limited to computers, scanners, computer software, computer hardware, etc.
  • Must be able to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving instructions, assignments or directions from superiors.
  • Must be able to read a wide range of correspondence, technical manuals, etc.
  • Must be able to speak to people with poise, voice control, and confidence.
  • Must be able to apply rational systems to solve practical problems
  • Must be able to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to give oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.
  • Must be able to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using computer equipment.
  • Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Must be able to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
  • Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.
  • Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear.)
  • Must be able to communicate by telephone

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college in computer science, data processing, business information systems, or a related field; and 2 years directly related experience
  • Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED or High School Equivalency Diploma); and Four (4) years of directly related experience
