Mayfair Animal Hospital & ER has an exciting opportunity for a Training Coordinator to join our team! Location : 11637 W North Avenue, Wauwatoso, WI 53226

Shift Details : This is a part-time position (under 30 hours / week),

Pay Range : $14.00 / hour

Job Summary : The Training Coordinator provides a fluid transition for new hires as well as the accountability and support to the entire veterinary team in hospital policies and protocols.

They will participate in the development and organization of hospital protocols as well as the appropriate and timely updating of said protocols with the team / department’s participation.

They relieve the core staff from training in areas like hospital flow, practice management software and the multiple platforms available to the team.

They can support all departments in the event of staff shortages. They aide the team leaders in general accountability and provide the trainees with follow-up and support.

They are responsible for achieving efficiency throughout the hospital, open and consistent communication between departments, and the necessary constant training of the entire staff on advancements in technology and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and uphold Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
  • Provide guidance to the support staff to assure that the shift flows well.
  • Mentor team members for career advancement and personal development towards goals.
  • Implement accountability with all team members regarding changes and / or updates on protocol and policy changes, updating / editing when appropriate.
  • Provide support to all team members on multiple available platforms to include awareness, training, and reinforcement.
  • Assist with interviewing, onboarding, and training processes for new hires throughout the hospital.

  • Provide input to the hospital manager for 360-degree employee performance evaluations.
  • Provide patient care under the supervision and direction of a DVM.
  • Maintain excellent client communication.
  • Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.
  • Answer client’s inquiries about basic animal care questions and routine procedures; handle client’s medical questions with confidence and direct to veterinarians when appropriate.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT), Registered Veterinary Technician or Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician (RVT / LVMT) certifications desirable but not required.
  • Previous on-the-job training when not a CVT, RVT, or LVT required.
  • Minimum two years’ experience as veterinary technician or education equivalent.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in successfully training other team members.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner with clients even when situations are stressful and / or focused on individual tasks.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
  • Ability to give SQ, IM and IV injections.
  • Knowledge of usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and ability to readily explain them to the clients.
  • Knowledge of the common anesthesia and recovery states and ability to alert veterinarians when symptoms change or when concerns arise with hospitalized patients.
  • Knowledge of heartworm and external parasite preventives to promote client education and sales.
  • Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature and recover a patient from anesthesia.
  • Ability to navigate the practice management software addressing concerns and providing technical support to all departments.
  • Proficient typing skills required.
  • Writing skills are effective, efficient, and ability to clearly state the objective.
  • Computer knowledge required; comfortable with Word, iOS, Windows, practice management software, and use of communication tools such as marketing program and email.
  • Is well-spoken and approaches his / her job duties in a mature nature.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of hospital team members.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Possess a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and exceed expectations.
