Mission Park Healthcare Center is Hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (Registered Nurse) Near Santa Barbara, CA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Nursing is an RN who is responsible for the overall supervision of nursing care in the facility during their shift. Responsible and accountable for the provision of direct, age specific, resident care to those assigned to his/her care for each established shift. The RN provides resident care according to the nursing processes of the facility and is responsible for the coordination of the team approach to meet each resident’s individual needs. The RN provides clinical leadership for the other nursing staff as assigned and performs related duties as required. The RN supervises the LVN’s, C.N.A.’s, and other ancillary nursing personnel involved in the delivery of resident care. Functions in the absence of the Director of Nurses.

POSITION RELATIONSHIP:

Collaborates with all levels of unit nursing personnel and administrative and financial staff, physicians, consultants to the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

1. Licensure/Certification:

a. Current, valid, Registered Nurse licensure to practice in the State of California

b. Current BLS certification

2. Education:

a. RN graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associates Degree

3. Experience:

a. Requires at least six months prior RN experience in the past two years in a general acute care hospital setting, or acquired equivalent competency appropriate to the type of subacute residents that the facility provides care to.

4. Language Skills:

a. Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information, and to be easily understood through verbal communication in the English language.

5. Mathematical Skills

a. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

b. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, and volume.

c. Ability to perform upper level mathematical operations.

SPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES:

1. Check daily staffing and assure staffing needs are addressed- updating schedule for call- off and/ or additions as needed. Assures daily staffing record is correct with census and staff numbers within 1 hour of start of shift.

2. Supervises and administers direct nursing care when more than routine care is indicated. Evaluates all residents with COC to assure residents’ needs are being met. Provide support/ education to staff, residents and families.

3. Makes rounds twice each shift to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment throughout the facility.

4. Meets with all new admissions to assure core needs are being met.

5. Assures accuracy and completeness of medical records. Reviews resident record for all new admissions to assure complete per facility policies and procedures. Review all event reports for completion.

6. Assists with admissions, resident care plans and resident assessments and responsible for all IV needs of residents. Assists with Pharmacy and Dietary recommendations. To assure F/U with 72 hrs. Assures meal trays are delivered in timely manner
