MiSide (formerly Development Centers, Inc.) is Hiring a Perinatal Health Specialist - Contract (MiEarlyYears - South) Near Detroit, MI

Summary:

The Perinatal Health Specialist will play a vital role in our Early Head Start/Head Start program by providing comprehensive support to pregnant individuals and families with infants, focusing on achieving key outcomes related to enrollment, vaccination awareness, adherence to support plans, community collaborations, and post-program improvements in knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

Responsibilities:

1. Enrollment Enhancement:

  • Implement strategies to increase enrollment in the home-visiting program, aiming to raise enrollment from the current rate of 22% to 60% within one year.
  • Regularly collect and analyze enrollment data to track progress and identify areas for improvement.

2. Vaccination Education:

  • Educate parents/guardians on critical infant vaccination milestones and ensure adherence to vaccination schedules.
  • Provide resources and support to address any concerns or barriers related to vaccinations.

3. Perinatal Support Plan Adherence:

  • Develop and maintain individualized perinatal support plans for clients.
  • Monitor and track adherence to support plans, providing guidance and adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.

4. Community Collaborations:

  • Identify and establish partnerships with a minimum of three new community organizations or agencies.
  • Plan and host Community Baby Showers to facilitate referrals and collaboration on social determinants of health (SDOH) affecting the perinatal period with local partners.

5. Post-Program Impact Evaluation:

  • Conduct assessments to measure changes in knowledge, skills, and attitudes of perinatal clients after program participation.
  • Focus on outcomes such as reduced isolation, adoption of healthy behaviors, enhanced parenting empowerment, and decreased barriers to accessing support services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, psychology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience working with pregnant individuals, infants, and families in a community-based setting.
  • Strong understanding of perinatal health, including prenatal care, infant development, and maternal mental health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with community partners and agencies.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and a commitment to promoting equity and inclusion.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $35,692.00 per year
