POSITION SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The exciting and always eventful role of the Greco Gardens instructor is to support residents in a greenhouse atmosphere. The instructor will work closely with the Greco Gardens manager to oversee the program. Candidates should feel comfortable creating, developing, and implementing programming as it relates to horticultural concepts. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working with multiple departments on campus and residents of all skill sets.

SKILL/QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum of one year working with individuals with intellectual disabilities

· Valid driver’s license and good driving record required, must be comfortable driving vehicles of all sizes

· Committed to ensuring the rights of the residents

· Committed to meeting Misericordia’s high environmental, safety, personal care and active treatment standards

· Ability to interact with community members and volunteers with ease and confidence

· Ability to demonstrate reliability, flexibility and adaptability

· Ability to organize, manage resources, meet deadlines and work independently

· Ability to meet DT essential functions

· General knowledge of greenhouse, hydroponics and seasonal gardening preferred but not required

· Ability to plant, prune, weed, and basic maintenance of all garden areas

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.50 per hour
