Minnesota Valley Transit Authority is Hiring a Lawn Care Technician Near Burnsville, MN

POSITION SUMMARY

MVTA (Minnesota Valley Transit Authority) seeks a passionate Lawn Care Technician with detail-oriented experience in lawn care maintenance to produce the best lawn care service from start to finish at MVTA’s facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is proficient in all aspects of lawn mowing and maintenance services, enjoys working independently outdoors, and takes pride in their work.

JOB DUTIES OR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform all lawn care and landscaping maintenance duties at approximately thirteen (13) MVTA facilities.
  • Mow lawn at each facility using appropriate equipment, including riding and push mowers.
  • Fertilize the grass where needed.
  • Eliminate weeds, using a weed whip and spraying weeds in grass.
  • Pull weeds and spray in non-grass areas such as gardens, rocks, chips concrete, asphalt, rain gardens, and islands.
  • Trim trees, bushes, and shrubbery.
  • Clean up grass clippings and trimmings in all areas after mowing and trimming.
  • Clean up leaves as necessary.
  • Remove trash before performing the landscape work; do not mow over trash.
  • Spray mulch with color as needed.
  • Make sure irrigation is on and working without leaking (systems not in alarm).
  • Sharpen blades on lawn equipment.
  • Ensure supplies are in stock and proactively request, including weed whip string, fuel, 2-cycle oil, and any other materials to perform your job.
  • Perform daily safety and fluid checks on equipment and trailer.
  • Perform daily cleaning of equipment, ready the equipment for the next day.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

This position may encounter not public data in the course of these duties. Any access to non-public data should be strictly limited to accessing the data that are necessary to perform the duties. While data are being accessed, this position should take reasonable measures to ensure the non-public data are not accessed by individuals without a work reason. Once the work reason to access the data is reasonably finished, this position must properly store the non-public data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience, training required, and skills/abilities.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED

Experience

  • Two (2) years of lawn care and landscaping maintenance experience
  • Experience performing maintenance on lawn care equipment, including safety and fluid checks, blade replacement, etc.
  • Experience securing equipment on a trailer and driving with a trailer

Trainings, Certificates, and Licenses

  • Valid MN driver’s license

Skills and Abilities

  • The ability to work unsupervised and complete assigned tasks
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated time management skills; ability to be organized and efficient, effectively prioritizing tasks
  • Ability to make sound decisions swiftly
