Job Description
Minnesota State College Southeast seeks a Nursing AD Instructor dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Minnesota State College Southeast are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. Duties Include:
  • Participate in department and college curriculum development.
  • Deliver classroom, web-enhanced and/or online course instruction.
  • Conduct classroom research and other assessment/evaluation activities.
  • Mentor and advise students.
  • Participate in committee assignments and college-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in department accreditation and review.
  • Engage in scholarly and other professional development activities.
  • Advocate on behalf of students, program and college.
Course assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend hours consisting of lecture, lab, and clinical assignments in hospital, community settings and/or long-term care centers located in the Red Wing area including off-site locations.
Required Qualifications
Education Requirement
  • Graduate degree with a major in nursing, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing and a graduate degree in support of the field of nursing and/or education.
  • A nursing program director must hold a graduate degree in nursing, nursing administration, nursing education, public health nursing or a nursing clinical specialty.
Occupational Experience Requirement
  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.
  • As a registered nurse at the professional level, experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected student and faculty outcomes; including experiential preparation in the areas the faculty will teach.
Recency Requirement
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
  • Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with current registration in Minnesota.
  • Other Requirement: Compliance with clinical affiliate policies for attending on-site clinical teaching assignments.
Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement
The Teaching and Learning Competency must be met within the first 3 years of employment. See more details at this link:

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Clinical Simulation
  • Familiar with Concept Based Theory in nursing education
  • Experience utilizing learning management systems such as D2L
  • Previous teaching experience or demonstrated ability to teach in a Community College setting in both in-person and online learning environments
  • An understanding and knowledge of classroom, lab, clinical and simulation teaching methods, skills, and issues along with an understanding of an array of academic areas/programs and related issues.
