We are currently seeking a Clinic Assistant who will bring manifold abilities and a strong dedication to the birth center’s model of care. The Clinic Assistant will be a collaborative team member providing support to the daily clinical activity, administrative tasks, and upkeep of a freestanding birth center and clinic. This is an hourly position paying $18/hour and that will be primarily located at our St. Paul location with a Monday-Thursday schedule. The hours for the position mimic our clinic hours of operation, which are as follows:

Mondays 10a-7p
Tuesdays 8a-5p
Wednesdays 10a-7p
Thursdays 8a-5p
Fridays: closed

Qualifications

• Experience in phlebotomy preferred but not required
• Experience, education, training or certification in one of the following specialties preferred: Medical Assistant, Nurse Assistant, Personal Care Assistant, Practical Nurse, EMT, Phlebotomist, or other clinical experience or training involving direct patient care
• Committed to the philosophy of out-of-hospital birth
• Demonstrated competence in interpersonal communication, appropriate clinical procedures, attention to detail and follow-through, and cooperative teamwork.
• Flexibility in adapting to the ever-changing healthcare environment.
• Ability to effectively manage company resources.
• Skilled in modeling company values through daily interactions within the organization, particularly with regards to health and safety.
• High standard of ethics, discipline, and professionalism.
• Contributes to positive and inclusive workplace culture.
• Ability to work within an EHR.

Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical:

• Perform patient blood draws and vaccine administration for CNM visits
• Perform venipuncture, vaccine administration, urine or self swab collection and hearing screens for nurse visits.
• Stock clinic rooms and lab kits daily
• Process labs and prep for lockbox
• Sterilize instruments

Administrative:

• Resolve nurse line voicemails including providing date of delivery confirmations, medical records and patient letter requests, and processing lab orders
• Locate and connect lab results and consult notes
• Data entry into national perinatal database
• Manage complex medical supplies inventory process including ordering, tracking and stocking supplies
• Other tasks supporting the Clinic Coordinators

Upkeep:

• Complete terminal cleaning of used birth rooms including stocking rooms and birth kits appropriately
• Continue/complete laundry per protocol
• See to clinic room end of day cleaning, including removing used linens and taking out garbage
• Receive and stock medical supplies
• Set up for orientations and classes
• Run and unload dishwasher
• Ensure resource availability, such as refilling hand sanitizers, hand soaps, and ultrasound gel bottles; making home visit packets, baby hats, padsicles, and herbal baths; bundling syringes and emptying sharps containers; cleaning laundry and supply room
• Other tasks as needed

Physical and Logistical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to walk up and down stairs repeatedly.
• Must be comfortable working at either of our St. Paul and Minneapolis locations during clinic hours, which include later clinic shifts on Mondays and Wednesdays, regular business hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and earlier clinic shifts on Thursdays and Fridays; MA may be asked to commute one time between birth centers during the clinic day.
