We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a vital role in helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve lasting recovery. You will provide counseling services, develop treatment plans, and support clients in their journey towards sobriety. Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' substance abuse history and mental health status
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clients' needs and goals
- Provide individual counseling sessions to address underlying issues contributing to addiction
- Facilitate group therapy sessions to promote peer support and encourage open communication
- Utilize evidence-based behavioral therapy techniques to help clients modify harmful behaviors
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure holistic treatment approach
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and relapse prevention skills
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation and client records
- Collect data on client progress and outcomes for evaluation purposes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
- Valid state licensure or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Experience in addiction counseling and familiarity with various treatment modalities
- Familiarity with co-occurring disorders such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with diverse populations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
