About the Role:

The Payor Account Specialist will support the department by completing and controlling thorough follow-up, analysis, and resolution of payer and provider contractual underpayments with multiple payors leading to appropriate closure of accounts. The department goal is to proactively resolve large scale issues obtaining correct reimbursement according to contracts while working alongside internal teams and external contacts.

The Responsibilities

• Analyze payments and adjustments to ensure proper contractual discounts/allowances have been applied according to payor contracts.
• Responsible for auditing, tracking, and producing reports for provider and/or payor issues resulting in contractual underpayments and present to internal teams.
• Acts as a liaison between the RCM, Contracting, and Payor Relations teams.
• Build strong, lasting relationships directly with the payors to determine root causes of underpaid claims, achieve resolution and obtain reimbursement. Meets weekly or bi-weekly to review project status.
• Obtain and deliver examples and claim data requested by payors for investigation and claim reprocessing.
• Other projects as assigned by Management.

The Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in related field is preferred.
• Revenue Cycle Management experience with a focus on payor denial management and appeal process.
• Practice Management and reporting software experience.
• Data analysis experience with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of health care reimbursement and contracting with the ability to understand and interpret aspects of contracts with an emphasis on the implementation and operational components of contract terms.
• Ability to efficiently multi-task, with strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while communicating and coordinating work efforts with team members.
