Milwaukee School of Engineering is Hiring an Assistant Director of Experiential Learning Near Milwaukee, WI
Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Director of Experiential Learning to join our Academics department as part of the CREATE (Community-focused Real-world Engagement in Academics Through Experiential-learning) Institute at MSOE. The CREATE Institute focuses on faculty, student, and community programming to ensure that all MSOE graduates embody the MSOE Mindset. Under the direction of the Director of the CREATE Institute, the Assistant Director of Experiential Learning supports MSOE Mindset development by integrating project-based experiential learning and other high-impact practices throughout the curriculum at MSOE. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of real-world experiential learning opportunities that are integrated into courses throughout the university to ensure we are meeting the needs of all stakeholders (students, faculty, community partners, and industry partners):
Work with faculty to vet potential projects to determine if they are a good fit for all stakeholders
Triage projects to appropriate faculty, courses, student teams, or student organizations
Secure industry professionals to mentor students on projects when applicable
Facilitate project transitions to new teams in between academic terms and years
Establish new and maintain existing relationships with external partners (community and industry)
Maintain portal for ongoing procurement, management, facilitation, and sharing of projects
Provide leadership and resources to help faculty leverage industry partnerships to facilitate real-world experiential learning and Entrepreneurial Minded Learning pedagogy effectively
Maintain records of external partnerships related to real-world experiential learning projects
Support the CREATE Student Fellow leadership program
Support program development for The Cove
Other Duties & Responsibilities
Mentor MSOE’s University Innovation Fellows
Support the Director of CREATE in developing, facilitating, and assessing a high-impact learning program into all four years of MSOE’s undergraduate curriculum
Support the Director of CREATE in developing, facilitating, and assessing orientation week activities for students, staff, and faculty which support fostering the growth of the MSOE Mindset
Assist with new faculty onboarding and mentor program
Travel to conferences, workshops, and exemplar programs to gain insight into best practices and leverage existing resources (approximately two trips per year)
Support the Associate Vice President of Academic Success and Institutional Effectiveness in efforts to assess institutional metrics
Serve on various institutional committees, task groups, councils, boards, and teams as a representative of the CREATE Institute as needed
Work collaboratively with all university personnel to promote CREATE Institute programming and MSOE’s shared purpose (mission, vision, values, and mindset)
Other duties as assigned by the Executive VP of Academics and/or Director of CREATE

Master's degree required (STEM or education focus preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of work experience in education required (higher education preferred)
Applied knowledge of experiential learning and high-impact learning pedagogy required
An understanding of the Entrepreneurial Mindset and KEEN Framework is preferred
Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before others.
Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral form.
Ability to use numbers to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficient in multiple technology platforms/tools, including Microsoft 365
Knowledge of all programs offered at MSOE is helpful
Outstanding project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to make decisions independently and work with minimal supervision
Ability to maintain effective working relationships and function within a team.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships throughout campus and with external partners of MSOE
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is largely sedentary, the ability to move is required.
