General Summary of Duties: This position is responsible enter payment data accurately and quickly. Maintains strict confidentiality for all patient accounts. Follows approved processes, policies and procedures in executing job duties.

Essential Functions:

• Primary responsibility will be medical claim payment posting and self-pay payment posting

Post payments to practice management system via ERA or manual posts for multi-specialty practice

• Batch payments and run deposit reports for all payments posted
• Reconciles and balances total payments posted against daily deposit report from accounting department
• Submits reconciliation reports and batches to accounting department on or before scheduled deadlines
• Verifies all EFT and check payments are posted prior to the close of each month
• Posts all zero pay EOBs before the close of each month
• Properly communicates and documents payment issues, reconciliation issues, and balance issues to management in a timely manner
• Research and resolve any missing payment files or data with accounting department

• Perform other duties assigned by management

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year experience as medical payment poster in a hospital or multi-specialty practice setting-required

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent-required
• Minimum of 1 year experience as medical payment poster-required

Knowledge/Skills:

• Working knowledge of medical payment poster practices, CPT codes, and ICD10s
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software
• Strong knowledge ERA and manual payment posting
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work with high volume of payments while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to organize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
• Excellent problem-solving skills
