Banquet Captain-Full-Time
The Lakefront, Anchorage hotel (formerly the Millennium Hotel) is recruiting for full time, Banquet Captain to join our team. At the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel, we strive to deliver a memorable experience for our guests. Situated on the shores of scenic Lake Spenard, one mile from Anchorage International Airport and four miles from downtown Anchorage, the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel is the perfect starting point to explore the many wonders Alaska has to offer. The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel boasts 248 rooms and three outstanding food and beverage outlets.
The role of the banquet captain is managing the entire banquet staff to ensure the high-quality execution of large receptions and events involving food service; he or she also serves as a liaison between the banquet service staff and the kitchen staff and otherwise assists in management operations.
Typical duties of the banquet captain include:

  • Reviews seating diagrams and banquet event orders for acceptability and accuracy.
  • Delegates duties to team members for each event.
  • Validates costumers’ IDs and monitors all beverage consumption in order to address severe intoxication.
  • Resolves guests’ concerns, inquiries, and complaints.
  • Maintains detailed reports for management and develops an accurate bill for service.
  • Monitors food service to limit food wastage or contamination.
  • Coordinates quality of food service between cooking staff and floor staff.
  • Adheres to all food safety regulations.

The successful applicant will:

  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Possesses an extensive knowledge of food preparation and service.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Demonstrates the ability to solve problems and delegate tasks.
  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous server and A/V equipment experience.
  • Must have at least one year of banquet experience
  • Patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Work as a productive team member by contributing positive energy.
  • Be professional and respectful in all interactions with guests and associates.
  • Must have a valid food handlers’ card and a TAMS card.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform well in a high-pressured work environment.
  • Adequate mathematical skills.
  • Required to walk and stand throughout the majority of each shift.
  • Regularly lift 20-40 pounds.
  • Guest attentiveness and a neat appearance.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
