Sr Project Manager.

The client's Department of Global Health and Population is seeking an internationally-experienced candidate with strong project management skills to serve as SR Project Manager for the Initiative on the Future of Health and Economic Resliency in Africa. The Initiative on the Future of Health and Economic Resiliency in Africa is a new initiative undertaken in collaboration with the School of Public Health, academic leaders from universities in the USA and Africa, Africa CDC, WHO, national policy leaders, among others, and the final report of its findings and recommendations will be published.
The goals of the initiative are to: (i) review and synthesize evidence from Africa’s unique experiences and trends in health and economic development, both historical and contemporary, as a backdrop for the current state of population health and development in Africa; (ii) assess the state of population health in African, key lessons learned, and implications for the future of health and economic resilience in the continent; and (iii) provide strategic recommendations on the options for a brighter future. The Senior Project Manager will serve as a thought partner to initiative leadership, pursuing critical thinking, solution generation, and development and implementation of strategies for the initiative to ensure appropriate advancement. The SR Project Manager will oversee the strategic and administrative management of the Initiative, in close collaboration with a Professor.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Organize, implement, manage and coordinate core panel sub-committees, mapping out timeline for deliverables and ensuring sub-committees are on track
Oversee all administrative and operational aspects of the project in collaboration with the GHP core administration and finance teams, including but not limited to personnel management, financial management and communications
Lead project communications with internal core panel participants, initiative advisory board, and external communication outlets
Maintain external relationships with key partners and donors to support fundraising and proposal development
Oversee the initiative's fund management, post-award sponsored compliance, forecasting, budgeting, financial transaction approval and compliance with University policies and procedures
Supervise student research assistants
Plan and execute several meetings and multi-day events, both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies required include:
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required
• 5 years of related experience required
• Prior project management and supervisory experience required
• Previous field experience with health systems research in Africa is preferred
• Previous experience leading international research teams within the context of administrative systems
• Experience managing international research
• Experience convening, negotiating, and reaching consensus within an academic context
• Experience working independently, exercising sound judgment, and acting judiciously
• Experience taking initiative and setting priorities among competing tasks and deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills, receptiveness to feedback, and track record of working respectfully and constructively with colleagues and external collaborator
