This job description indicates the normal type and level of work expected of the incumbent. Incumbent may be asked to perform other duties as apparent or assigned.
1. Receives numerous requests for service within the County or joint powers agencies; receives and transmits messages over several communication systems with numerous agencies.
2. Assesses each request to quickly determine whether the caller requires an emergency response, routine response, or no additional service. Prioritizes requests for service based on their state of emergency; disseminates relevant information to the proper responder. Determines what, if any, other equipment or other agencies are needed to respond. Contacts other agencies for backup or response in a timely manner. Provides pre-arrival medical and safety instructions to the individual requesting assistance.
3. Initiates and completes all records (ICR's) associated with incidents per policy. Maintains a log of all radio, telephone, and alarm calls.
4. Maintains radio contact with all on-duty County and municipal mobile patrol units, and monitors their status at assignments; relays pertinent information to following shift employees. Monitors locations of patrol units at all times. Uses location, status of current activity, and information regarding road conditions when assigning calls. Follows established safety response protocol if a patrol unit does not maintain expected contact and cannot be reached.
5. Researches incident related records, such as plates, licenses, and criminal records on behalf of patrol units when requested.
6. Maintains the state and national computer files for Mille Lacs County on missing persons, stolen vehicles, stolen articles, warrants, and other required areas; maintains and updates database with 911 addresses.
7. Maintains radio, phone, CAD, LETG, Portals MNJICS operation systems and programs in Dispatch Center. Arranges for emergency repairs when needed.
8. Monitors weather conditions, watches, and warnings and communicates disaster information to appropriate personnel.
9. Performs monthly civil defense tests and weekly pager tests for all public safety departments within the County.
10. Runs, reviews, and interprets criminal histories and background checks as requested. Reviews and maintains HRO/OFP/DANCO orders.
11. Attends and participates in required staff and committee meetings, training seminars, and in-service trainings such as fire safety and disaster preparedness.
12. Follows general policies of the office, including established safety and infection control policies and procedures, and dress code.
13. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Candidates will be selected based on a review of training and experience. Top candidates may be required to participate in oral interviews.
