How You Can Make an Impact

Mill Rock Packaging is excited to start the search for a Material Handler. This position is located onsite at our Renton facility, reporting to the Due Cutting Manager. As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in the efficient operation of a manufacturing facility by ensuring timely and accurate handling of materials and goods. The primary responsibilities include receiving, storing, organizing, and distributing materials according to established procedures and safety guidelines. Material Handlers are expected to maintain inventory accuracy, facilitate the movement of goods within the facility, and support production or distribution processes.


A Day in the Life:

  • Properly store materials in designated locations within the warehouse or storage area, ensuring accessibility and organization for efficient retrieval.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and update inventory systems as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret job schedules and tickets in order to fulfill orders by accurately selecting required items from inventory and loading onto machine
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to move materials within the facility.
  • Inspect materials for quality defects, report any issues to appropriate personnel, and ensure only acceptable materials are used in production or shipped to customers.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper handling of hazardous materials, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Work closely with other team members, including warehouse associates, supervisors, and logistics personnel, to coordinate material flow and support operational objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and cost savings within the material handling function, and actively contribute to implementation efforts.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. Steel toe or composite shoes are required.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $20.50/hr. to $23.00/hr. Pay is based on a variety of complex factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Depending on the position, other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of robust medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and life insurance benefits.

Capabilities & Experience:

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or a similar role preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, with appropriate certifications/licenses.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory and documentation.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely, often in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory management software or systems.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, and overtime as needed.
