Milgard Manufacturing is Hiring an IT Support Specialist III Near Tacoma, WA

Pay Range: $81k - $102k, depending on experience.

The IT Support Technician III role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house compute resources that support end-user organizational functions. This includes designing, installing, configuring, administering, and fine-tuning of operating systems and components across the organization in a timely and efficient manner. The IT Support Technician III will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. This person is the escalation point for issues submitted to, and worked by the Support Desk.

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoot, maintain and resolve hardware and software problems, including end user desktop PCs and printers.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and deploy production facility scanning and printing equipment
  • Troubleshoot PC controlled manufacturing equipment.
  • Setup and deployment of new PCs and printers.
  • Troubleshoot network, PCs, printers and applications.
  • Create new users and maintain Active Directory information.
  • Order new products such as PCs, printers and other necessary hardware/software.
  • Coordinate and participate in key IT process improvements throughout the organization.
  • Participate in the design and review of new systems and application deployments in workstations.
  • Ensure that workstations comply with established policies, security standards, licensing agreements, and configuration guidelines.
  • Recommend and execute modifications to workstations in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Conduct research on hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts.
  • Coordinate and participate in deployment of service packs, hot fixes, system updates, and vendor-supplied patches according to best practices.
  • Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
  • Take an active role in cross-departmental projects when needed or tasked.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents.
  • Ability to conduct and facilitate training sessions, presentations, and meetings for a deployment of a project when needed or tasked.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships both inside and outside of the company for vital success of any project.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution.
  • Operating systems experience with Windows 7/8/10, Server 2008/2012/2012 R2/2016/2019.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft products, such as Office 365 Exchange, Office Suite, SharePoint, SQL, WSUS, and Active Directory.
  • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies including VPN, web filtering tools, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Technically competent with various software programs.
  • Provide support for manufacturing industry specific software applications.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply innovative technologies.
  • Customer service skills a must.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Periodic walking on concrete and production facility environment
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects.
  • Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
  • Physically able to lift up to 60lbs.
  • Some travel will be required for the purpose of meeting with vendors and off-site project deployment including air travel.
  • On-call for after-hours support via cell phone.

Desired Experience

  • Two years minimum of direct Customer Service experience.
  • A strong understanding of ITIL implementation and processes.
  • Experience with purchasing and managing IT assets, hardware and software.
  • Experience with IT Support Desk applications such as Remedy, ManageEngine or Service-Now.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of the techniques and procedures of software, hardware and network support for multiple users.
  • Must understand installation, configuration and troubleshooting processes for software, hardware, and accessory/peripheral equipment.
  • Experience with mobile technology such as Tablets, Smart phones, iPads, iPhones, etc.
  • Experience with phone systems such as Avaya and Cisco etc.
  • Requires extensive analytical skills to assess problems or unusual situations and develop solutions.
