TITLE: Harm Reduction Program Coordinator

LOCATION: Denver, CO

The Bee the Vibe Harm Reduction Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating harm reduction outreach and education such as social events, HIV/HCV/STI testing, prevention trainings, social media campaigns and youth programming. The Harm Reduction Program Coordinator reports directly to the Bee the Vibe Project Manager.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Program Coordination:

  • Create and implement outreach plans about harm reduction to prevent opioid overdoses and spread of infectious diseases (HIV/HCV/STI).
  • Recruit clients and program participants from diverse communities including LGBTQ people, people experiencing homelessness, women, at-risk youth ages 16-18 and people in rural Summit County.
  • Working with the Prevention Clinical Case Manager, refer clients to appropriate community services.
  • Serve on and lead harm reduction coalitions.
  • Other duties as assigned

Outreach & Education:

· Research and participate in tabling events to talk about Bee the Vibe programming

· Create and provide group education presentations to target populations about topics like HIV/HCV/STIs, opioid overdose, fentanyl testing, naloxone training, and other prevention/harm reduction topics.

· Lead monthly social events to provide a safe, sober space for participants to learn about harm reduction tools and strategies.

  • Create and implement a social media strategic plan with other program coordinators
  • Cultivate culturally responsive social media campaigns across relevant social media platforms to provide information on safer sex education, safer drug use education, and other Bee the Vibe programming.

Testing:

· Coordinate drop-in rapid testing for HIV/HCV at the main location as well as other agency locations.

· Manage testing supplies and equipment for testing.

· Maintain necessary data records in accordance with CDPHE’s standards for HIV prevention services and MHBHC policies.

· Input collected data into appropriate software for grant reporting within 10 days of collection.

  • Provide regular progress reports to Project Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Outgoing personality comfortable with starting conversations to unknown individuals.

· Comfort in engaging people in difficult venues and discussing sexual health and drug use topics.

· Familiarity with LGBTQ cultural and health disparities including those living with HIV and those at risk of acquiring HIV.

· Familiarity with people experiencing homelessness and people who use drugs cultural and health disparities.

· Ability to speak in front of large groups of people.

· Experience in group facilitation on a wide variety of harm reduction topics including sexual health and drug use.

· Excellent communication and computer skills including use of social media.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

· Frequent travel (within Denver Metro)

· Position will primarily work Monday through Friday with some evening and late-night work

· Assist other team members in program execution

· Demonstrated ability to constructively work with persons in crisis situations

· Preferred to have experience and knowledge in HIV/HCV and/or drug use

COMPENSATION:

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience.
