Description

Description and Purpose:

The Service Department is an integral part of the Company’s success. The Diesel Technician will perform mechanical repairs, maintenance, overhauls, and rebuilds of heavy-duty trucks and other related equipment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions or damage
  • Perform all mechanical repairs, maintenance, overhauls, and rebuilds of heavy-duty trucks and other related equipment
  • Test drive vehicles and test components and systems, when applicable
  • Use equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices
  • Use electronic test equipment to locate and correct malfunctions in fuel and emissions control systems
  • Inspect belts, hoses, steering systems, brakes, fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas for additional repairs needed
  • Test electronic computer components to ensure that they are working properly
  • Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges

Qualifications


Education/Training or Experience:

  • High School graduate or GED required
  • Diploma from Technical College or equivalent experience
  • Some computer skills required
  • 1-2 years experience in heavy-duty truck repair preferred
