Field Safety Supervisor

Job Summary

Mid-Sate Field Safety Supervisor role protects the personal life and health of our team members, customers, and communities.

This person mitigates risks in the field daily by identifying and addressing hazards immediately. The Field Safety Supervisor ensues the safety of our team in the field so everyone can return home safely after their shift.

Who You Are

The Field Safety Supervisor is responsible for making sure our team is able to complete their jobs safely and efficiently in the field.

The Field Safety Supervisor must be extremely responsible, responsive, proactive, level-headed, approachable, a strong communicator and maintain a high level of integrity.

This person keeps the health and well being of our team a priority, while also servicing the needs of our customers.

Essential Duties

  • Knowledge of OSHA / MSHA regulatory requirements.
  • Familiar with Industrial Construction activities.
  • Oversee and ensure safe daily operations in the field.
  • Inspect and assess job sites daily to identify hazards, risks and potential safety issues.
  • Develop effective strategies to mitigate risks as they arise in the field.
  • Address all safety concerns by providing educated recommendations to ensure the safety of our team members.
  • Request hazard correction from our customer's on-site contractor personnel (as needed).
  • Coach and train team members in the field on safe operations.
  • Conduct various training sessions (New Hire Orientation, Annual Refreshers).
  • Conduct interviews to obtain information in regards to on the job incidents and accidents.
  • Provide immediate on-scene assistance and management in the event of an incident.
  • Establish a strong working relationship with our customers' and on-site personnel.
  • Complete daily administrative duties.
  • This position requires daily travel to various client worksites mostly within the Central Florida. 15% travel outside of Florida but within the United States.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience Preferred Requirements

Associates degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or other relevant field; a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Safety is preferred.

May consider 5- 7 years of experience in lieu of degree.

Minimum of 2-5 years' work experience with responsibilities in EHS compliance is required, preferably in the construction industry.

  • This is a non-exempt position.
  • This position reports directly to the EHS Director.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment

  • Location is at 2730 Mine and Mill Road, Lakeland, FL.
  • Working environment is often times in harsh elements (hot / humid and / or cold temperatures, rain, etc.) Industrial environments often have exposure to hazardous chemicals, moving heavy equipment, and other safety-sensitive hazards / risks.

Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.

  • While performing the duties of this job, you will :
  • Frequently perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Other physical requirements include;
  • Multi-limb Coordination - The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down.

It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.

  • Hearing Sensitivity -The ability to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness.
  • Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Extent Flexibility - The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and / or legs.
  • Oral Comprehension -The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Static Strength - The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual Color Discrimination - The ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
  • Written Comprehension - The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Category Flexibility -The ability to generate or use different sets of rules for combining or grouping things in different ways.
  • Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Far Vision -The ability to see details at a distance.
  • Inductive Reasoning -The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Oral Expression -The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Rate Control - The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and / or direction of a moving object or scene.
  • Selective Attention -The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
  • Speech Clarity -The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
  • Speech Recognition ' The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person.
  • Trunk Strength -The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
  • Visualization - The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged.
