    DISTRICT OVERVIEW
    Saginaw Township Schools is located in a multi-cultural and vibrant community in mid-Michigan. We are proud to have ‘National School to Watch’ and ‘Blue Ribbon Award’ winning schools.
    POSITION OVERVIEW
    White Pine Middle School (Grades 6,7,8) has about 1000 students assigned to Learning Communities. Learning Communities ususally consist of about 120 students who are taught by the same four core teachers. Each grade is housed in a building separate from other grades on campus with other middle school facilities in separate buildings (e.g., cafeteria, gymnasium, theater and library). An Assistant Principal will be responsible for the overall operation of a grade. There are three (3) other administrators at the middle school; a Principal, and two (2) Assistant Principals.
    White Pine Middle school has been designated as a Michigan School to Watch for excellence in middle level education since 2006.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to:
    • Under the Principal’s direction, exercised leadership in implementing the general program of education approved for the school maintaining strong middle grades focused strategies to meet the needs of all students.
    • Sets school goals and expectations for the staff and students.
    • Directs the activities of the professional and nonprofessional staff in the performance of their duties.
    • Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual performance.
    • Implements Board of Education Policies and Administrative Rules and Regulations relating to the school.
    • Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other functions required or appropriate to the school's administration.
    • Utilizes all resources of the school system and the community in developing the most effective educational program.
    • Prepares and submits the school's budgetary requests and monitors expenditure of funds.
    • Keeps the Principal informed of the school's activities and problems.
    • Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
    • Assists with School Improvement Process relating to building improvement, planning, testing and reporting.
    • In-person daily attendance required.
    • Other duties as may be assigned.
    MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Meet the state certification requirements to serve as a middle school Assistant Principal.
    • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate preferred.
    • Master’s Degree preferred
    • Five years of successful teaching experience (at least three years in a secondary school).
    • Administrative experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead staff in change process through collaboration and problem solving.
    • Proficiency in use of technology and knowledge of technology integration with curriculum.
    • Experience in leading organizational and instructional change to support success for all learners.
    • Knowledge of middle school curriculum, middle school strategies, Michigan Regulations and requirements, understanding of data analysis, MTSS, MIBLSI, progress monitoring, NWEA.
    • Understanding of master scheduling for a large middle school. Experience preferred.
    • Understanding of teacher evaluation; experience with the 5D Teacher Evaluation system desirable
    MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to use sound judgment; tact and courtesy in a variety of situations
    • Work with frequent interruptions

    • Prolonged use of computer
    • Possible occasional lifting or pushing of up to 25 pounds
    • Vision requirements include close up reading such as needed for handwritten or typed material, ability to adjust focus and depth perception.
    • Standing, walking sitting, stooping, bending and kneeling
    • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Primarily an indoor work environment in school offices and buildings, with some exposure to weather when going between buildings on campus.
    COMPENSATION:
    This is a 215-day* position is represented by the Saginaw Township Administrators Association. Salary for 2023-2024 is $81,575 to $91,322 with traditional benefits.
    The collective bargaining agreement expires June 30, 2024. The parties' collective bargaining agreement has a wage re-opener for the 2023-2024 school year. Standard employee benefits.
    *Including 10 holidays
